Greetings from 1st Choice Alpacas!
Our alpaca adventure began in an airplane. Brian noticed an
article in a magazine while on a business trip. The gentle nature of
alpacas attracted him, as well as the investment potential. Frieda
had boarded horses as a child and knew the work required to raise
livestock-not to mention the pain from being kicked! The positive
aspects of alpacas won her over, as well as her first alpaca
kick-much gentler than a horse!
The
next two years were spent reading articles, scanning web sites,
visiting farms, attending the Alpaca Association of Western
Washington's Alpacapalooza Show, and becoming an associate member of
AOBA.
In January of 2002 we purchased three alpacas while on Vashon
Island, WA. After 4 years of loving the alpaca lifestyle we realized we had many
choices to consider. Out of all the options we realized our "1st Choice" was
more alpacas and more of the lifestyle! So we moved to the country in Southwest
Washington State (Battle Ground, WA) and started our 2nd alpacas farm,
renamed "1st Choice Alpacas"!
